Compensation success for mechanic in Armed Forces
What’s My Deafness Claim Worth have recently successfully pursued a claim for a client who sustained noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus as a result of exposure to excessive noise when employed as a mechanic in the Armed Forces.
Our client carried out maintenance to military vehicles and was deployed to various locations throughout the world including Northern Ireland, the former Republic of Yugoslavia, Iraq and Kuwait. Our client was exposed to excessive noise from weapons fire during his training. In addition our client was exposed to considerable noise when carrying out repairs to military vehicles in various military workshops. Our client worked on a range of military equipment from Land Rovers through to Challenger tanks.
Our client was provided with hearing protection but this was inadequate and our client was not properly trained to use this. As a consequence our client developed hearing loss and a ringing in his ears, known as tinnitus.
We successfully pursued our client’s claim against the Ministry of Defence. The MOD and their representatives strenuously denied our client’s claim but we were able to successfully recover over £5,000.00 compensation for him.
