Tilting your head can help you hear
We find that many of our clients struggle to hear more when they are in a crowded place, such as a restaurant or pub, particularly when there is background noise. Research by Cardiff University may have found a helpful solution.
They have found that by tilting your head to a 30 degree angle can increase the sound of speech by four decibels. Whilst four decibels does not sound like much, just a three decibel increase is a doubling of acoustical energy.
The results of the research, funded by Action on Hearing Loss, will have a significant impact on those who struggle to hear. Many clients report that not being able to hear in social places causes them to feel isolated and stops them wanting to go out. Being able to increase the volume of speech so easily will help people and improve their social lives, thus improving their quality of life.
