Noise induced hearing loss claim success

What’s My Deafness Claim Worth has successfully settled a claim for noise induced hearing loss compensation for a former Glost Sorter.

Mr A spent approximately seven years in the late 1980s and early 1990s working for a company called Steelite, based in Stoke. As a Glost Sorter he worked in the Glost Warehouse, grinding ceramic plates and crockery to a smooth finish. To do this he used a grinding wheel, smoothing the iterms after they had come out of the oven. He worked on between 4,000 and 6,000 items per shift on a piecework basis and therefore teh faster he worked, the more he would earn.

Mr A worked in close proximity to others who also used grinding wheels. The noise levels were such that he had to shout to be heard when communicating with colleagues working near to him.

Our specialist deafness solicitors took a detailed statement from Mr A in support of his noised induced hearing loss claim and wrote to his former employer with details of his exposure to noise. They also arranged for Mr A to attend an appointment with a medical expert who provided a medical report in support of the claim.

Although court proceedings were issued in the claim, the case was settled without Mr A having to attend court.

Mr A received £5,500 in hearing loss compensation.
